WHAT TO EXPECT:
At an HCPAC audition, you will be greeted in the lobby upon your arrival, asked to take a number, have your picture taken, and fill out a short form. Please be ready to list any and all conflicts that are known at the time of auditions as these are the only acceptable excuses for tech week, dress rehearsals, and performances.
Once your form is complete and everyone has arrived, you will be asked to participate in activities appropriate to the performance, including singing an excerpt, learning a simple dance routine, reading from the script, or participating in improvisational exercises. All materials will be provided at the time of the audition to ensure a level playing field. You may be asked to work in groups or perform alone, depending on what the director would like to see.
Following auditions, the call-back list will be posted to our website, Facebook, and emailed to any auditionee (or their guardian) who has provided us with an email on their audition sheet.
PARENT INFO: All students under the age of 18(eighteen) auditioning, must have a parent/guardian register them at the beginning of auditions. Auditions generally take approximately two hours. NO parents/guardians are allowed in the auditions.
Call backs are for directors to ask performers to share more to help them in a casting decision. Auditions are often sufficient to cast roles, and many times a call back is not needed if you give a great audition!
If you do receive a call back, the director may ask you to sing, dance, or read from the script, and all materials will be provided to you.
Here’s the exciting part: if you audition and are interested in participating, HCPAC will be happy to welcome you into the chorus of all three of our companies! We want you to be excited to learn and grow, and will look for lots of ways for you to be on the stage during the performance.
The cast list for speaking roles, featured dancers, soloists, and featured performers will be posted to our website, Facebook, and emailed to any auditionee (or their guardian) who has provided us with an email on their audition sheet.
We hope you come try out for a show! Watch our front page for posts about what’s coming up next!
