Bigger-Than-Life-1

Students in grades 7-12 are invited to be part of P.T. Barnum’s traveling troupe during this 2 week summer camp intensive.

Tall tales, folktales, talking tales, noodles, whoppers, windies, stretchers — everyone has a different name for these stories. Whatever you call them, America’s legends come to life in this lively, delightful award-winning play that will appeal to all ages. When P.T. Barnum arrives in town with his traveling troupe, the mayor isn’t so sure Barnum’s on the level. So the master showman agrees to give a sample of his wares. What follows is knee slappin’, foot stompin’, rip roarin’ fun, as some of the best loved characters in American folklore come to life to show us their stories. As P.T. Barnum might say, prepare to be amused, amazed, astounded, edified and infinitely entertained!

Hello, Shakespeare Summer Camp
Monday-Friday 9:30 AM-5:30 PM
July 17-21 and July 24-28, 2023
Performance Friday, July 28, 2023 @ 6:30 PM
Hello-Shakespeare-1

Students in grades 7-12 will enjoy this fast-paced comedy as they dive into the wonderful world of Shakespeare during this 2 week summer camp intensive.

A narrator and their irreverent helper comically provide a brief biography of the playwright, who appears in protest to make sure they get the details right. Drawing from Shakespeare’s long list of histories, comedies and tragedies, a grand parade of the Bard’s most cherished and famous characters follows with just a few actors onstage at any one time. They humorously reenact brief moments from their plays and recite famous lines in iambic pentameter all while the impish helper, now dressed as Puck, creates mischief. With a hilarious grand finale performance of “Pyramus and Thisbe” from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, this is Shakespeare’s play for everyone!

This two-week immersion summer camp program is designed for students in grades 7-12. At camp, students will not only spend time preparing for the end of camp performance but also participating in theatrical workshops which will help train students for the STAGE of life. Some of the areas of focus will be: oral communication skills, creative problem solving, motivation and commitment, working cooperatively and independently, memorization techniques, time-budgeting, learning quickly, adaptability and flexibility, working under pressure, concentration, leadership and self-esteem, acceptance of disappointment and the ability to bounce back.

Previous experience is not necessary to be a part of this immersive program. We want students to have a fun time getting involved in theater whether it’s their first time or their hundred and first time.
